Skiing & Snowboarding

at Watles

A winter vacation in Val Venosta sounds fantastic, doesn’t it? The region offers great opportunities for skiing and snowboarding, with the Watles ski area on Burgeis’ local mountain, around 15 minutes away, being particularly popular. But that’s not all, it also offers a picturesque winter landscape and a breathtaking view over the valley basin.

For beginners and experienced skiers/snowboarders, there is a ski school at the foot of the ski area, as well as a ski rental shop with professional staff who are sure to be able to help you.

Within a radius of a few kilometers, the Vinschgau Valley also offers other ski areas such as Schöneben/Haideralm or Sulden am Ortler.

Sledding

Fun for the whole family

Tobogganing is definitely great fun, especially with small children!
A hike through the snow-covered landscape on Watlesberg followed by a toboggan run is a great way to spend the day. Of course, there is also the option of taking the lift to the mountain station and then riding down the fantastic toboggan run. The anticipation, the fresh air and the excitement of tobogganing make it an unforgettable experience for the whole family.

Ski mountaineering & snowshoeing

in the middle of the snowy landscape

Ski touring and snowshoeing are great ways to explore the winter landscape and get off the beaten track. Both activities offer an intense experience of nature and allow you to venture deep into snow-covered areas that are often inaccessible by ski lifts, enjoying the silence of the mountains and getting some exercise at the same time. Of course, safety and experience are always paramount!

Don’t worry, for less experienced tourers/snowshoe hikers there are of course great routes throughout the area that are not remote or secluded!

Cross-country skiing

in the Schlinig valley

Cross-country skiing in Schlinig is a fantastic leisure activity in winter to experience the beauty of the Vinschgau side valleys. The area is known for its perfectly prepared trails through snow-covered forests and valleys. Perfect for cross-country skiers of all levels. It’s a great way to be active in nature and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the snow-covered landscape.
The rental shop at the start of the cross-country ski trails offers professional advice and is there to help and advise you.

A detour to the Schliniger Alm rounds off a perfect winter excursion in the Schliniger Valley.

Ice skating

on the reservoir

The Venosta Valley has developed into a very popular hot spot for ice skaters and speed skaters. The vacation region at the border triangle now has a gigantic natural ice rink on Lake Reschen and is very popular with ice skaters. But not only that, families can also be seen on the frozen lake.

With the right conditions and a safe ice cover of up to 40 cm, ice skaters can do their laps here and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. It is a place for professional and amateur ice skaters alike. Always at your own risk, of course!

In addition to ice skating on Lake Reschen and Lake Haidersee, there are also ice skating rinks in Latsch and Prad am Stilfserjoch in the Vinschgau Valley.
